Fiona describes herself as your Business's Best Friend & Numbers Expert, and we tend to agree. She has over 20 years experience in the not for profit sector with a focus on payables, receivables and payroll. For the past 2 years she has been working at SHB as an Accountant.
If you're into the nitty gritty, Fiona holds a Bachelor of Commerce, is a CPA (A Certified Practising Accountant is a finance, accounting and business professional with a specific qualification), and is both a MYOB and Xero certified Advisor.
Fiona is a people person and enjoys helping others with their accounting and bookkeeping needs. As a small business owner herself, she welcomes the opportunity to take away the extra stress that comes with running a business by simplifying the day to day tasks, "Your bookkeeping shouldn't take hours each week."
Although Fiona services all industries, she has extensive experience with hospitality entities and thoroughly enjoys working with local small businesses. She often finds that people are overwhelmed with the tax and employer obligations that come with running a business, and often miss their legal obligations.
"Running a business or getting a new business going is hard enough without having to juggle the tax and employer obligations. Let me take the pressure off so you can focus on growing your business and brand."
So, what advice would Fiona give someone who wants to start their own business? It's as simple as "if you think it's a goer, then go for it!" Fiona can help with taking some of the fear and uncertainty out of the process by walking you through the best strategy, your obligations, and the day to day running of your business.
Now that we've got through what makes Fiona your Business Best Friend, you may want to know a bit more about Fiona as a person.
1. New Zealand is on Fiona's bucket list, and she hopes to travel there in the next year or so.
2. She is currently watching The Last of Us on Binge, but is disappointed to only get one episode a week!
3. Fiona has recently learnt to make chia puddings and has been experimenting with other delicious goodies.
